STEVEN C. GREENWALD
is a graduate of
the University of Illinois School of Social Work (Urbana-Champaign).
He holds both a Masters and Bachelors degree in, Social Work. Mr.
Greenwald’s experience includes extensive work with geriatric,
psychiatric and medically impaired populations in residential,
in-patient and out-patient settings. He presently consults to many
long-term care facilities across the state of Illinois. Mr. Greenwald
is a popular instructor at seminars and workshops designed to enhance
the delivery of social work and behavioral health care services in
assisted living, special dementia care environments, nursing home and
hospital settings. His expertise includes: OBRA
compliance, JCAHO accreditation, care
plan development, staff management, quality improvement, deficiency
refutations, plans of correction and staff development. Mr. Greenwald
is a nationally known author and the editor of the
SocialWork Consultation Group Letter,
a quarterly newsletter distributed to nursing facilities in
the United States and Canada. He has received professional acclaim and
recognition for his long-term care resource books. Mr.
Greenwald is certified by the Academy of Certified Social Workers
(ACSW) and he is a Licensed Clinical
Social Worker (LCSW). He is an advisory
board member to the Activity Therapists Association of Illinois.

DAVID J. BEARD
has
been working in the long-term care industry since 1987, when he received
his Masters Degree in Social Work from the Jane Addams School of Social
Work at the University of Illinois (Chicago). His long term care
experience includes individual, group, and family psychotherapy,
cognitive/behavioral assessments for a national rehabilitation company,
and psychiatric evaluation of geriatric and mentally ill individuals. He
also provides consultation to administration, care plan staff, nursing
departments, and social workers. He is an expert at resident assessment
and one of the few professionals in the United States who truly
understands the Minimum Data Set (MDS),
Resident Assessment Protocols (RAPs),
Quality Indicators (QI’s) and their
relationship to the care plan process. Mr. Beard is a senior consultant
with the SocialWork Consultation Group, and is a regular contributor to
the SocialWork Consultation Group Letter.
Mr. Beard is frequently asked to provide consultation to facilities in
the Midwest regarding OBRA compliance issues, Joint Commission
standards, and programming to enhance quality of life. He is currently
at work on a sequel to his outstanding book, The
Social Work Care Plan Training
Manual. This new manuscript will further define social work
participation in the Resident Assessment Instrument process and provide
numerous original fully developed care plans. Mr. Beard is also a
frequent speaker at workshops in Illinois, providing training to
individuals who work with both geriatric and mentally ill residential
populations. He is licensed to practice independent clinical social work
in Illinois.
